“Yamaha” is the story of a legendary guitar manufacturer

Yamaha

One of the oldest corporations in the world, Yamaha was born in 1897. It is named after its founder, Torakusu Yamaha, whose love for musical instruments prompted him to take this important step for the entire music industry. The most remarkable thing about this story is that before 1887, Torakusu had absolutely no interest in music; he was a master repairman of medical instruments, an occupation he was quite happy with. But Mr. Chance interfered, and it is him, who we can say “thank you” for the fact, that Yamaha classic and electric guitars delight us with their splendid sound. So, Torakus was approached with a request to repair a failed reed organ. The craftsman was so fascinated by the job, that once he finished it he began to make his own organ. And he made it! And then he began to perfect it, because the Music Research Institute in Tokyo had discovered several disadvantages with the organ.

So, one could say that Torakusu’s fascination with musical instruments began by pure chance. He worked on tuning forks and organs, then, in 1902, the first pianos under the Yamaha logo saw the light of day. Some forty years later, in 1941, a new milestone in the company’s history would be reached. Yamaha acoustic guitars, prototypes of today’s fine instruments left the factory.

A characteristic of the development of this famous Japanese company is the continuous work in many different directions. They open laboratories, where they test new developments, begin to produce a huge number of products, most of which become leaders in their spheres. Yamaha branches are opened in Europe and America. The corporation establishes its own music schools, which aim to promote equipment and educate teachers.

The Japanese corporation was one of the first to mass-produce electric guitars. Yamaha’s contribution to the development of the market of musical technologies is enormous, it can’t be overestimated. And today, when you are going to buy a guitar, almost in any music store you will be definitely recommended to choose an instrument from this particular manufacturer. Yamaha is known for the quality of its products, devotion to its craft and always responsible, uncompromising approach to its work. That is why Yamaha is one of the most recognizable brands in the world, loved and appreciated by fans of all musical styles, without exception.
