Album Review: Bad Rabbits – Stick Up Kids
Another band that captured me at SXSW this year was Bad Rabbits. I’ve finally had a chance to get their debut, Stick Up Kids, and thankfully the energy and grooving vibe of their live show carries well onto the album.

SXSW Review: Squidbucket @ Malaia
I’ve personally considered the genre of “progressive” rock dead for a good 20+ years now, but the music Squidbucket presents can truly be considered progressive.

SXSW Review: The Constellations @ The Pure Volume House Party
The Constellations’ special mix of hip-hop, synth-pop, and downright-soulful Southern rock was a fantastic way for the Pure Volume House party to wind down Friday evening. From the moment frontman Elijah Jones took the mic, the crowd was at full attention, and the Atlanta-based super-group’s synth-powered, bohemian hip-rock had all in attendance eating from their [...]

Alex Chilton – A ‘Big Star’ Is Remembered
Alex Chilton once stated that he was merely a singer, never planning on successfully crafting songs that mean much. The last thirty years begged to differ. Photo By: Philippe Brizard

SXSW Review: The Black Angels @ MWTX FESTIVAL

SXSW Review: Billy Bragg @ MWTX FESTIVAL
Billy Bragg used quite a large portion of his set at the MWTX Festival North Stage standing on his typically high political soapbox, but luckily, he played a few songs too.

SXSW Review: Bad Rabbits @ Aces Lounge
Let me begin by saying that, honestly, Bad Rabbits @ Aces Lounge was an extremely last minute addition to my SXSW show schedule. At a friend’s urging that I absolutely must see them perform, I decided to pop in and check them out and, damn, am I glad I did. Photo by: Jackie Munoz

SXSW Review: And So I Watch You From Afar @ Friends Bar
Hailing from Belfast, Ireland, And So I Watch You From Afar (ASIWYFA, for short) created utter musical devastation at Friends Bar for SXSW last night. They not only pulled in a venue-filling crowd, but also drew countless passersby to the venue’s windows to catch a glimpse of who was manufacturing this chaotic, layered, instrumental bliss.
