European producers have been taking pop to all kinds of heights but not so much hip hop. That’s changed in this international affair where UK producer Kris Breeze brings “Over C’s,” a track from his forthcoming Ordinary Excellence EP.
Whether Mr. Kasher first caught your attention through the insanity of Cursive or the more laid back/heart-wrenching sounds of The Good Life, he is ready to garner it again with a new solo album titled The Game of Monogamy to be released Oct. 5th. Normally I like my dance music a bit more aggressive, but Neon Hitch’s latest mashup, “What Starry Eyes Need to Know” is a beautiful chill-out track to close your night on the town. I know an indecent exposure citation is one way to get noticed, guys, but with catchy rock music this good, you’re far more valuable to us on stage than behind bars.
As a big fan of covers—particularly covers of bands I love, by bands I love—I’ve been a big fan of Levi’s Pioneer Sessions: The Revival Recordings. The latest track from this series to catch my ear is a pit taking on a pumpkin, more specifically Passion Pit covering the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Tonight, Tonight.”
