Beats Antique

Acclaimed musical trio Beats Antique’s stage performances contain a plethora of sensory indulgences that give fans a chance to experience a raw, animalistic musical event that blurs the lines between the provocative, the spiritual, and the artistic while still maintaining both class and beauty. On November 8th, David Satori, Tommy Cappel, and Zoe Jakes will be taking over the Shrine Expo Hall as part of their Creature Carnival Tour, and as if that’s not exciting enough, they’ll be joined by Shpongle, Emancipator, and Lafa Taylor!

The Stone Foxes

The Stone Foxes’ unique brand of rock exhibits a country-blues vibe and reveals such musical influences as Kings of Leon and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Founded in 2008 by brothers Shannon Koehler and Spence Koehler, the politically active group just wrapped up a tour with Social Distortion and in lieu of a traditional release for their fourth album, Twelve Spells, the San Franciscan six-piece is releasing a new song on the first Friday of every month for the next year.

Let me tell you a little bit about Tame Impala. This psychedelic rock quintet has been rocking the Perth music scene since 2007, and what started as a home-recording project has become a mainstay on the international festival circuit. Their sophomore album, Lonerism, was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2013 GRAMMYs and landed the #16 spot on our best albums of 2012 list. Need I say more?

Digitalism

“There’s something in the air, whoa oh!” Aside from a recent and sick collab with Youngblood Hawke, German electronic duo Digitalism has been laying a little low following the release of their 2011 sophomore album, I Love You Dude. All that’s about to change next month when my favorite Hamburgers (tee hee) stop by LA to perform a not-oft-seen live set. Be still my beating heart.

The Presets

If you don’t know The Presets by now, you obviously don’t visit LA Music Blog very often. This EDM duo is one of the most-covered acts on the site (thanks in no small part to Lesley’s undying love for the Aussies), but The Presets get plenty of love from their home country as well.

The Roxy has booked some seriously good acts this year. It is one of the last Sunset Strip venues left with real draw to back up its historical legitimacy. That being said, the pairing of Finch and Maps & Atlases confused me a bit at first. They are both great live acts, but their music doesn’t necessarily match up.
