It’s been seven long years since Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel AKA Air last toured the US during which the LA stop where they were supposed to play at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the LA Phil was cancelled at the eleventh hour (I’m totally not bitter or anything). In the intervening years from then ’til now, they’ve released two studio albums–Le voyage dans la lune and Music for Museum–as well as a compilation album Twentyears to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band’s inception.

Featuring the crème de la crème of the dreamily downtempo duo’s already stellar discography, Twentyears is an exploration of the melodic deliciousness that has become Air’s signature. Everything from Moon Safari’s sonically sumptuous “La Femme D’Argent” to the synthy “Cherry Blossom Girl” of 2004’s Talkie Walkie is represented here and you can’t help but be acutely aware of how varied their impressive catalog is when you listen through the compilation in its entirety.

To commemorate the release of Twentyears, Air is finally making their return to the City of Angels, playing at the Greek Theatre on June 25th. Get your tickets ASAP! Aside from the fact that they are famous for their live musicianship, it could be another 7 years before you even get the chance to see them again.
