Last week, Haim released a live video of their new turmoiled-love song, “Right Now,” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. As fans were rejoicing (it’s been more than a year without new music from the sisterly trio) Haim had another surprise up their sleeves: On Wednesday, May 3rd, the band debuted their first official single, “Want You Back,” from their upcoming second album, Something to Tell You.

Premiering on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 show, the shimmering track features a prominent bass line and has a reminiscence of 1970’s disco-funk. The song has an upbeat and catchy melody, but features regretful lyrics like “And I had a fear of forgiveness / I was too proud to say I was wrong / All that time is gone, no more fearing control / I’m ready for the both of us now / So just know that I want you back,” creating a wondrous depth.

I’ve already played this song several times, and have a feeling it will be one of my go-to’s this summer!

Haim will be appearing on Saturday Night Live on May 13th, and Something to Tell You is slated to be released on July 7th.
