Thursday are my favorite band of all time. Someday I am going to get around to writing about it. For now, suffice it to say that Thursday, after a five year hiatus, are back and as good as they ever were.
With support from Wax Idols, Basement, and Touche Amore, the anticipation in the room was palpable. Thursday’s career has always inhabited an odd place – going from underground hits to major label derision, to emo write-offs and back to underground legends. It was with that legendary status that they played a full house at the Wiltern, boasting every strength that has made them as adored as they are for all these years including banners declaring “Refugees Welcome Here” and “Protect Immigrant Communities.”
“If these banners offend you, you should have been offended by our music a long time ago,” said Geoff Rickley, before launching into “Autobiography of a Nation” to prove his point.
