Swedish singer-songwriter Jens Lekman released Life Will See You Now on Friday, his latest album that focuses his indie music on a decidedly pop sound. He pulls in a range of influences to create a delightful, colorful sound while continuing his tradition of weaving whimsical lyrics into unexpected stories to create a delightful, colorful sound.

After struggling for inspiration after his 2012 release I Know What Love Isn’t, Lekman wrote one song per week in 2015 to gear up for this record.

It’s clear Lekman had a lot of fun with exploring the genre, expressed in the uplifting vocals and bright piano in “Evening Prayer.” Yet in typical Lekman fashion, his music happily tells the tale of a man who printed out a 3D model of his tumor to express his love. The funky guitars and whimsical lyrics of “What’s That Perfume That You Wear?” show Lekman’s desire to jump in and play with the genre.

If you’re digging the new album, Jens Lekman will be performing Monday, 2/27 at the Teragram Ballroom and tickets are available now!
