Saturday was a different sort of evening at The Echo and Echoplex, but in the very best way. Instead of hosting separate shows, the tours of The Hotelier and Modern Baseball merged into what became something of a small, DIY-esque festival utilizing both venues’ stages.

The Hotelier, Told Slant, and Loone played The Echo stage, while Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, and Thin Lips covered The Echoplex stage. Time was allocated between each set to accommodate anyone meandering to and from either stage. To my knowledge, no two bands were performing completely over each other.

I knew The Hotelier, Told Slant, and Loone had two additional shows booked for the Southern California area I would later attend, so that night, my focus had been directed toward The Echoplex stage and securing a decent spot to catch Modern Baseball. “Up and coming” would be an overused understatement for the Philly band at this point as Modern Baseball is “there,” especially since the release of their recent album, Holy Ghost, which they are currently touring in support of.

Check out my photos of Modern Baseball’s set below, and let me know your favorite in the comments!
