I love nothing more than a powerful female vocalist. Whether she’s a singer-songwriter like Sara Bareilles, a fierce rapper like Iggy Azalea, or a pop queen like the one and only Beyonce, I bow down to these talented women who command their respective music scenes.

In the past week, I noticed my spring cleaning playlist was chock full of powerful ladies and energizing anthems, so here are my top five ladies killing it in music right now. Let me know who you think I’m missing in the comments below!

5) Ellie Goulding – “Love Me Like You Do”

While the movie Fifty Shades of Grey was as bad as one would expect, the soundtrack was impeccable. The power ballad “Love Me Like You Do” from the dreamy Ellie Goulding has been playing on the radio nonstop since the movie’s release, and the song’s slow buildup and thundering chorus will make you want to stand up and cheer.

4) Demi Lovato – “Neon Lights”

Demi Lovato is a powerhouse, not only vocally, but emotionally as well. She has seen her share of drama, but one thing has remained the same: Lovato is an impressive talent and a fierce performer. Her latest single, “Neon Lights,” is an epic pop anthem that will be on everyone’s feel-good summer playlist.

3) Tove Lo – “Talking Body”

Tove Lo came on the scene with her ode to being under the influence, “All The Time,” but there’s a lot more behind this woman behind the party anthem. Her debut album, Queen of the Clouds, is filled with synth-heavy pop tracks that are delightfully hypnotic and catchy, and her most recent single, the steamy “Talking Body,” has been dominating airwaves.

2) Kelly Clarkson – “Heartbeat Song”

Since her debut as the first winner on American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has dealt with the worst side of the press. Despite fights with her label and comments on her weight, Clarkson has remained the epitome of grace and class, focusing on honing her incredible voice on pitch-perfect pop songs and raising her children. Her latest release is an energetic, positive track that is as celebratory as it is uplifting.

1) Sia – “Elastic Heart”

Sia has had an amazing few months — from her smash hit “Chandelier” and its must-see video to her impressive collaborations with The Weeknd and Diplo, this Australian-born pop singer continues to prove her talent and range, even after a ten-year-plus career.
