It’s been almost a year since The Story So Far, one of my favorite pop-punk bands, released new music. After months of touring off their sophomore album, What You Don’t See, these Northern California natives are back with “Nerve,” a brand new single off their self-titled upcoming third studio album, which is set for release on May 19th through Pure Noise Records.

“Nerve” has all the trappings of classic The Story So Far: hard-hitting lyrics, heavy pop-punk chords, and lead vocalist Parker Cannon’s tortured delivery (his voice has clearly taken a beating since the band broke out in 2011). If the single is any indication of the rest of the upcoming release, longtime fans will be satisfied with the possibly rougher songs.

The Story So Far will be taking their can’t-miss live performances across the country with Four Year Strong starting May 1st with a show at The Observatory in Santa Ana. I’m hoping the group follows the tour up with another summer out on the Vans Warped Tour, but no word on that summer festival yet!
