In case you weren’t aware, there are only ten days left until Christmas, which means that pretty much any place you can go has been blasting holiday music since at least Thanksgiving. Sure, the Christmas classics are great, but sometimes you need a break. Why not enjoy your reprieve while boosting your indie cred as well?

I’ve always looked to indie music for new approaches to tried-and-true sentiments, and these original tracks definitely take on the joys and dread of the holidays with a fresh, sometimes sarcastic perspective. Leave it up to the artists on this playlist to break some Christmas traditions (though not the one of making Christmas lists…) because, hey, it’s not like you’ll be having a white Christmas in LA anyway.
