Lo and behold, it’s that time of the year again, and it’s usually my favorite time! It’s “lists” season, and since 2014 is coming to a close, we here at LA Music Blog collectively gathered our opinions on our favorite records of the year to help roll out our Top 50 Albums list, as well as our Top Singles and Top Music Videos lists.

While no one may have seen D’Angelo’s new album, Black Messiah, coming out after we had already made the list, we still came up with a hefty amount of albums for a list that reminded us that 2014 really was a fantastic year for music.

In addition to having our Top 50 Albums list here on the site, we have come down to our end-of-the-year Blogcast, where I, David “DJ” Fisch, am joined by many writers for the site, including Mary Bonney, Jay and Laura Chirinos, Angelica Corona, Lesley Park, and my longtime co-host Marcus Slater, to discuss these albums in further detail, as well as our top musical moments of the year and what we can expect in 2015.

The idea of talking about each album (among other things) resulted in a two-part episode, recorded and available via TuneIn! In this second part, take a listen to what we thought of the albums that appeared on our Top 50 list from #30 down to our #1 album pick of 2014. We also talk about our favorite (and least favorite) musical moments from the year, the best live shows from the year, and what we can expect in 2015.

The LA Music Blogcast — the official podcast of LA Music Blog — has plenty of new and interesting discussions each week, so be sure to come back every Friday when we post up a new episode. We are completely open to accepting topics for discussion, which you can leave down in the comments below or on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
