Following a remarkably consistent and much-loved run of albums in the previous decade, Spoon has been extremely quiet in this one. Until this year, anyway.

Suddenly we have a whole host of Spoon-related news, including the release of the addictive and oddly-spooky video for their new single, “Do You,” taken from their forthcoming album, They Want My Soul. Out August 5th, the album will be the first of the quartet’s post-Merge Records career.

Judging by the previews we’ve heard, all the ingredients are in place for Spoon to recapture their excellent run of form after the slightly more subdued response to 2010’s Transference. The return of one of the nation’s most beloved indie bands is cause for celebration, and you can join it in person by purchasing tickets for their forthcoming show at the Fairbanks Lawn in the Hollywood Forever cemetery on August 8th. Tickets for that are still available.
