About ten years ago Canadian dance-punk duo Death From Above 1979 came and went in a blaze of glory, releasing an exhilarating debut album, You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine, before their sudden break-up. With the whirlwind nature of both their music and their general existence, it has to be said that news of a second album ranks amongst 2014 least likely music stories. Yet here we are, with the announcement of the release of The Physical World, a full-length album due for release on September 19th through Last Gang Records/Warner Bros.

On top of that, Death From Above 1979 will perform an exclusive one-off show at The Troubabour on August 14th to celebrate their return. Tickets for that show go on sale at noon tomorrow, August 1st, and I can testify to the fact that the opportunity to see a dazzling live band in a venue as intimate and awesome as The Troubadour is not to be missed. Tickets for the show will be available at The Troubadour’s website, and to whet your appetite, here’s the first preview of the duo’s return in the shape of “Trainwreck 1979.”
