Foxy Shazam

Foxy Shazam is one of the most amazing and bizarre acts I have ever seen live. When they first started releasing music, I would describe them to friends as a combination of My Chemical Romance and Billy Joel in a dog pile at the circus. I still don’t think I was far off.

With a handful of albums under their belt, the Cincinnati favorites have toured extensively, making their live show one of the best on the independent scene. When I talked to Foxy Shazam’s frontman Eric Nally last month he confirmed their prior extensive tour schedule, breaking 250 shows annually.

Foxy Shazam recently broke off from their label, and now that they are on their own, they can make more of their own decisions. To start, they released their latest record, Gonzo, independently and free to fans. The album has received great reviews and reveals a more serious side of the band. It touches on some darker themes and has more of a raw and less-produced sound, which made Steve Albini the perfect producer for the LP.

After a month on the road and a short break, Foxy Shazam is finally coming back to LA to rock El Rey Theatre in their signature way on July 31st, and LA Music Blog is giving away THREE pairs of tickets to the show!
