Themed 5Ks are all the fad nowadays. The Tough Mudder. Run for Your Lives. The Color Run. It was only a matter of time before some enterprising, charismatic, extraordinarily popular EDM figure capitalized on it.

We’re lucky it was Kaskade.

The Spark Run is like a normal 5K except instead of being pelted with powder or crawling through a pit of filth, you’ll run under a wash of neon lights. Bumping bass will guide your steps through shimmying, groovy masses. Art installations light up the way as well. It’s little like a rave, but with a purpose, and I’m not just talking about fitness either. Some of the money from this event will be sent to the Special Olympics of Southern California. It’s like a positive feedback loop of good vibes.

Spark Run Denver

Unlike the massives and festivals that Kaskade normally plays, this event is all ages and family friendly. There’ll be face painting and children, so this might not be the best place to blatantly roll face. Besides, who runs a 5K high?

Don’t answer that.

Tickets are still available at $60 a pop, which is actually awesome. Kaskade will perform at the end of the run, which will be special in and of itself. I last saw Kaskade at the Staples Center. He sold out The Shrine for his Atmosphere tour. I think a fun run with one of the most legendary house DJs ever as a nightcap is a solid deal. A steal, even.
