Barely over a month since its release, Young & Sick’s self-titled debut is already one of my most-played albums of 2014. Nick Van Hofwegen’s beautiful harmonies dance over an infectious mix of pop, soul, and jazz music on the album, proving that the Netherlands is more than just a breeding ground for hot new EDM acts.
Aside from writing and producing music, Van Hofwegen is also an acclaimed visual artist (he’s handled the creative direction for #1 singles by Maroon 5, Robin Thicke, and more, and his art has also been used in ads by Apple), and just this week he released a video for the Young & Sick track “Heartache Fetish.”
Set in Southeast Asia and saturated in deep red tones, the Harrison Schaaf-directed video is as subtle yet stunning as the track itself, and marks yet another creative win for Young & Sick. Check it out, and be sure to pick up tickets now for Young & Sick’s July 2nd stop by The Echo.
