As a music lover, the joy of Christmas morning comes weekly for me in the form of Tuesday’s new album releases on Spotify. I almost always have a couple of albums I’m already eager to hear, but the occasional surprise sneaks up on me. One such effort was Holychild’s Mindspeak EP.
Released back in March, the album’s sprinkled donut cover caught the eye of my partner in crime (and life), LA Music Blogcast co-host Mikiel Houser, and I’ve very happy he insisted I check it out because the 4-song effort quickly became one of my favorite releases of the year to date.
Last night, Mike and the rest of our LA Music Blogcast hosting crew — David “DJ” Fisch, Marcus Slater, and Lesley Park — gathered at the TradioV studio for our weekly show taping, and we were very excited to be joined by the LA duo behind that infectious EP, Liz Nistico and Louie Diller, aka Holychild!
In addition to our interview with the band — during which they shared with us the story behind their name, told us when we can expect a full-length debut, and revealed the reason you might catch Louie repeating outfits a lot these days — the LAmbCast team also chatted about their favorite new releases of the week, the unbelievably sloooow stylings of Earth, and, of course, the TONS of ticket giveaways we’re currently hosting on the site.
