LA is hosting all kinds of angst-ridden shows this weekend, and every one of them should be awesome. Maybe it was a tough week and you need to release some aggression, maybe you just love to rock, or maybe you need to broaden your horizons and get into some good heavy music. Whatever the reason, check these shows out!

Mastodon @ Club Nokia – Friday, May 2nd, 2014 – Tickets

Dear lord, why can I not go to this show? Mastodon is back with their first new album since the one that earned them a GRAMMY nomination a few years back. The new album is set to be one of the best metal releases of the year, and these Georgians will blow your mind live with their raw command of the stage. Joined by Gojira, this is sure to be one of the best metal shows of the year.

LA Music Blog Presents: White Fang @ The Echo – Saturday, May 3rd, 2014 – Tickets

Yeah, we present shows! Portland’s White Fang is going to headline The Echo Saturday night. The Burger Records punk outfit has a dirty sound that might have actually been recorded in a garage. They have been getting a lot of media coverage and are on the road proving themselves. Don’t be surprised to see at least one member sans shirt; pants are optional as well.

Manchester Orchestra @ House of Blues Anaheim – Sunday, May 4th, 2014 – Tickets

Manchester Orchestra is one of those critically acclaimed bands with a rabid following. Their latest release, Cope, is more than worth the listen. With creative songwriting and brilliant lyrics, it is one of the group’s best efforts. With opening bands Balance & Composure and Kevin Devine & the Goddamn Band, this will be a night of great songwriters playing amazing music.
