Question: what do you call a multi-instrumental sibling duo topped by an angelic, melodic voice? New Zealand’s own Broods!
Emerging from Nelson, New Zealand, Broods could easily sing you ever so peacefully into a dreamland, but that just scratches the surface of this self-described “downbeat electro pop” duo. With lyrics like “While I dance here softly, you’re next to me again, but we’re still tugging on each other and tearing up the fraying loose ends,” Broods reflects emotions we all feel at times, and between the release of their EP in January, constant touring, and the upcoming release of their full-length album later this year, it is my firm belief that the group is slowing taking over the world.
Check out their video for “Bridges” below, which has broken through NZ top 10 charts and is quickly gaining momentum here in the US.
With Caleb Nott on guitar, sampler, and keyboard, Georgia Nott on piano and vocals, and the addition of drummer Jimi Mataio, Broods is taking their show live and will hit the OC on May 15th for a performance at The Observatory in Santa Ana. Doors open at 8PM, and we’ve got TWO pairs of tickets up for grabs!
