Los Angeles has been abuzz this week as music lovers are gearing up for one of the most anticipated weekends of the year: Coachella. My Facebook feed has been filled with friends begging for a ticket to the sold-out music festival or packing their coveted bracelet for a weekend of sweaty, sticky, music-loving heaven. If you aren’t traveling to Indio this weekend, though, never fear as we still have plenty of worthwhile performances taking place here in Los Angeles.

Coachella Weekend One @ Empire Polo Club – April 11-13, 2014 – SOLD OUT

Since passes sold out in record-breaking time (under three hours), Coachella has been one of the most talked about events of 2014 here in Los Angeles. We here at the LA Music Blog have you covered if you’re overwhelmed by the stellar, diverse lineup that includes headliners OutKast, Muse, and Arcade Fire. Look for our coverage after the festival!

Switchfoot @ The Wiltern – April 11, 2014 – TICKETS

If Indio isn’t your destination this weekend, Switchfoot is currently on a nationwide tour in support of their ninth(!) studio album, Fading West. Last year, the band released a documentary with the same title that gave fans a glimpse behind the scenes of their 2012 world tour. It’s clear Switchfoot has no plans to slow down, and if you want to hear timeless alternative rock complemented by Jon Foreman’s goosebumps-inducing vocals, head to the Wiltern Friday night. The venue says this show is sold out, but there are some tickets floating around LiveNation.

I Am The Avalanche, Diamond Youth, and Turnover @ The Roxy – April 12, 2014 – TICKETS

I frequently complain about the rising price of concert tickets, but this weekend I Am The Avalanche is playing one of the smallest venues in town for one of the cheapest tickets. For just $12 concertgoers can catch a formidable lineup of rock bands, culminating with headliners I Am The Avalanche, whose frontman Vinnie Caruana (formerly of The Movielife and Head Automatica) leaves it all on the stage.
