I have been a fan of The Downtown Fiction’s frontman Cameron Leahy for years. Growing up in Northern Virginia, the local music scene was centralized in nearby Washington, D.C., but a handful of bands rose above the suburban noise, including Leahy’s first pop-punk band, Suburban Riot. I remember watching the charismatic singer in his early teens command the attention of a packed community center, and years later, Leahy and his band The Downtown Fiction are making pop-punk music perfect for upbeat summertime days.
The Downtown Fiction just released the lyric video for “Kiss My Friends,” the lead single off their upcoming album Losers & Kings. That LP is set to be released on June 17th through Fearless Records, but you can pre-order the album now and receive the single instantly. Check out the infectious song below:
The group was set to open for fellow upbeat pop rockers You Me At Six at The Troubadour this Monday, April 21st, but the headliners just announced this morning that they’re postponing that tour to allow frontman Josh Franceschi to recover from vocal exhaustion. The tour is set to be reschedule for this fall, and if The Downtown Fiction remains on the bill, I highly suggest you pick up tickets.
