Dream pop artist Katie Herzig recently kicked off her national tour at SXSW, and tonight she’ll be taking the stage at the famed Troubadour to celebrate today’s release of her latest effort, Walk Through Walls.

Herzig’s music should be familiar to Southern California ears as she first made a splash on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic back in 2008 and has since popped up as an occasional “Top Tune” on the station. A California native, Herzig actually recorded Walk Through Walls entirely in Nashville, TN where she now makes her home.

Katie Herzig Walk Through Walls

Herzig’s latest album churns out lovelorn stories set to buoyant pop beats, à la Tegan and Sara’s most recent effort, Heartthrob. Who doesn’t want to dance and cry at the same time, amirite? Walk Through Walls boasts a pretty great pedigree as well, having been mixed by Justin Gerrish (Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot). Recently, Herzig also teamed up with RAC for their track “We Belong,” which appeared on the group’s latest EP.

Be sure to catch Katie Herzig tonight on her only Southern California stop. You can still grab tickets.
