I honestly don’t think Outside Lands will ever beat its 2012 lineup featuring headliners Neil Young, Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Foo Fighters, Sigur Ras, Jack White, and Beck. Yeah, that’s a lot to list, but that shit was ridiculous. This year’s lineup ain’t too shabby either, though, featuring both classic and modern acts that will make for a great weekend in the Bay.
To start off, the headliners of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Killers, and Kanye West is pretty damn solid. If you haven’t seen The Killers at a festival before, I definitely recommend it. Kanye will be both amazing and hilarious. Hopefully San Francisco will see him as more than an ironic headliner and show some respect for the artist he is, or maybe no one will watch him because he is an insane megalomaniac. And Tom Petty…you don’t need a reason. Just watch him.
Other notables on the Outside Lands lineup are Spoon, Chvrches, Death Cab For Cutie, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tiesto, and Arctic Monkeys. They also released the lineup in the most amazing way possible with a news-style segment from Funny or Die featuring SF’s own Huey Lewis.
There are a ton of reasons to go to this festival, including the amazing local food and wine. Don’t pass this one up!
