As I brush up on the list of bands heading out for this year’s Warped Tour, I’m already starting to spot a few new favorites I’ll be sure to check out this summer. Fueled By Ramen Records has brought me some of my favorite bands (Paramore, fun., and Panic! At The Disco, to name just a few), so I shouldn’t be surprised Hollywood’s Ghost Town is on the label as well.
Ghost Town fuses rock and electronica, creating the pleasantly unexpected hype-up music my summer 2014 will definitely need. From the catchy, rocking dance vibe of “You’re So Creepy” to the atmospheric anthem “Tentacles,” the group aims to “cater to the young generation of today while keeping true to the underground scene they come from,” using heavy electronic beats, infectious hooks, and pulsating drums to win over fans (called “Ghosts”).
High school friends Kevin Ghost (vocals) and guitarist Alix Monster (drums) fully realized their electro-rock potential when they met MannYtheDrummeR (who had previously worked with Travie McCoy) and electronic savant Evan Pearce. The band prides itself on their high energy, both during recordings and shows, and their collaborative nature.
