While something good is always going on in LA, I won’t lie to you: I had kind of a hard time finding shows worth mentioning in this week’s Weekend Jumpstart. Finding an event that will keep you talking all week long can be tough, but after some digging, I uncovered a few pretty amazing gems. And here they are!

Whether you are looking to dance, see an incredible artist that might bring tears to your eyes, or just chill out and have a beer, these three events will make your weekend worthwhile.

Nick Waterhouse @ American Legion Hall – Friday, March 7th – Tickets

The rain is officially gone, and we’re back to 70-degree weather in Los Angeles. If you want to get your dance on, you’d have trouble finding a better throwback classic soul/rock & roll act than Nick Waterhouse. This show will leave you sweaty, danced out, and wanting to race for pinks to the closest malt shop.

Mirah @ The Satellite – Saturday, March 8th – Tickets

Or maybe you’re a little sad that the rain didn’t stick around for an extra weekend. After all, is three days of rain really enough to solve our drought problems? (Or maybe you just sympathize with Shirley Manson.) Anyways, Mirah has a beautiful and dramatic style that will sweep you away into another world when she performs at the Satellite on Saturday. Simple and stripped-down melodies guide her songs to unexpected places that will keep you guessing and hanging on to each note by a thread. With support from Ages and Ages, this is sure to be one incredible night.

The Aussie BBQ @ The Bootleg Theatre – Sunday, March 9th – Tickets

Screw it, let’s just grab a beer. I think it’s supposed to be a Fosters for this one. The Aussie BBQ starts at 1pm on Sunday, so that gives us time to wake up, nurse our hangover from Saturday, and start working on a brand new one for Monday morning with a bunch of amazing artists from Down Under. Ben Lee headlines this great lineup of Australian talent that will deliver upwards of 12 hours of music for $10. It’s kind of a no brainer…

Whatever you do this weekend, have fun, be safe, and see some live music!
