The Internet loves Remix Artist Collective. I really love Remix Artist Collective. The group began as the project of Andre Anjos, who found web fame remixing popular indie and electronic artists into his own style to great effect. Phoenix, Capital Cities, Joywave, Two Door Cinema Club…they’ve all been given the RAC touch. Even Porter Robinson’s “Sea of Voices,” a determinedly un-EDM track from the superstar producer, has been given a rousing, progressive remake. The guy is really good with this stuff.
What’s really interesting about RAC isn’t their deftly composed remixes, but their original music. The Let Go EP was a great preview and Strangers has every appearance of being just as entertaining. As far as pop music goes, RAC strikes a good balance between catchy, sunny chords and lyrics that aren’t just jibberish. The cameos help, though. St. Lucia? Yacht? Kele? Holy Ghost!? It’s like an indie smorgasbord.
Want to see Andre and the rest of RAC live? Lucky you! We have a pair of tickets to give away for RAC’s show at the Observatory in Orange County on April 9th, where they’ll be joined by Ghost Beach. Here’s how to enter…
