Holy crap, it seems that all the buzz bands of 2013 and 2014 have decided they want to visit Chicago this summer. Well done, Lollapalooza. Aside from having a great name, you now have one of the most exciting lineups amongst an overpopulated festival culture.
The fest pulls from the heavy hitters of Coachella, with Outkast, Broken Bells, Cage the Elephant, and Flosstradamaus all in attendance, plus one significant missing Coachella puzzle piece: Arctic Monkeys. Oh, and Portugal. the Man. Ooh, don’t forget Eminem.
Breaking down the day-to-day lineup, I must applaud the mix of up-and-coming artists building up to those headlining slots. Blogcast vet Meg Myers, LAmb favorites PAPA, Parquet Courts, London Grammar, Phosphorescent, Royal Blood…Jesus, can it be August already?
This solid lineup cements Lolla’s festival dominance in its 10th year with 130 artists, and passes are already sold out. That’s right, guys; it’s time for us to jump on Craigslist and cross our fingers.
