Today, March 22nd, A Day To Remember will host the inaugural Self Help Fest at the NOS Event Center in San Bernardino, California.

The Ocala, Florida rockers will be joined by Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice & Men, The Story So Far, Memphis May Fire, Attila, The Word Alive, Stick To Your Guns, Issues, letlive, Terror, A Skylit Drive, Beartooth, Hands Like Houses, Hundredth, Rotting Out, and more.

We caught up with ADTR guitarist Kevin Skaff to talk about the festival’s first year and why they wanted to give back to the fans. Here is what he had to say.

How did the Self Help Festival come together, and what inspired the concept for the festival?

Kevin Skaff: We have always wanted to make a quality branded festival for the scene. We get overlooked and thought there needed to be more recognition. We are excited to present this festival and hope everyone enjoys it.

Why “Self Help”?

Ourselves, along with a lot of other bands playing, receive many messages from fans explaining how we help them in some sort of way. It’s a way to say “Thanks” to everyone out there who our music has helped, who, in turn, help themselves after listening.

Any particular reason for hosting it in San Bernardino?

It was a great big location at the event center. Also, it barely rains in California, so an outdoor fest there seemed to be the best idea.

Did A Day To Remember select the lineup? How did this particular roster of bands end up on this bill?

We definitely were involved. We like all the bands and had the final say for the final lineup. This year is going to be great, and hopefully we can make next year just as good, if not better.

Anything fun/different that fans can expect at this festival they won’t see anywhere else on the circuit?

Simplicity. There are only two stages, so you can run back and forth catching everyone. There’s not much overlap.

Will this be an annual show?

Ya, hopefully! We already have ideas for next year.

If you can preview the Self Help Fest in one sentence, how would you describe it?

One insane day to see all of your favorite bands.
