russian circles

While the post-rock genre may have faded from fashion somewhat in recent years, Chicago three-piece Russian Circles has managed to sidestep that fading with a combination of a muscular, instrumental sound that drifts between thunderous metal and much softer passages and a stellar live reputation. They have shown consistency over five albums of material now, the last of which was 2013’s fine long player Memorial.

On the back of that release, Russian Circles will be returning to Los Angeles for a headline show at El Rey Theatre on Monday, March 10th, with support from Helms Alee and Ken Mode, and here at the LA Music Blog we have two pairs of tickets to give away for the event. If you’re looking for an aural Monday night treat, you might want to read on for details on how to enter the contest, but not before you’ve listened to “1777” below, the magnificent highlight from Memorial.
