Yell for Help

After the music scene practically slowed to a halt over the holidays, it’s finally starting to feel like LA here again with plenty of live shows to choose from this weekend. Check out just a few of the many great live performances taking play in our fair city this weekend, and be sure to let me know in the comments where you’ll be getting your live music fix!

CYP2 with Superhumanoids @ The Echoplex – Friday, January 17th – Tickets

Check Yo Ponytail 2 is known for putting on great shows, and tomorrow night’s event at The Echoplex will be no exception. Headliners Superhumanoids have been steadily gaining traction locally since forming in 2010, and this show marks the start of the R&B-tinged electro outfit’s short West Coast run of dates. Should be a fun night!

The Front Bottoms @ The Troubadour – Saturday, January 18th – Sold Out

Like The Mountain Goats? You should check out The Front Bottoms. I love this duo’s clever lyrics and driving indie-pop sound, and their 2013 release, Talon of the Hawk, landed the #20 spot on LA Music Blog’s best albums of the year list. I’ve yet to see the band live, so I’m definitely going to try to make it out to this one, and you should too.

Yell for Help @ The Satellite – Saturday, January 18th – FREE

Tonight’s LA Music Blogcast guests Yell for Help just announced yesterday that they’ll be playing a free show at The Satellite this Saturday night. Not only is this awesome because it’s free, it’s also only the second time Fann & Mike Pappas will be performing their electro-rock tracks for a live audience…unless you count the set they have planned for tonight’s Blogcast viewers. Watch that live from 8-9pm on TradioV.
