Back to the swing of things, everyone! The official second weekend of the year is upon us, and I can assume we are all back to reality. These cool events going on this week will help you continue your resolution to go to more shows.

Michael Kiwanuka @ Hotel Cafe – Friday, January 10th – SOLD OUT

Soul, soul, soul. Michael Kiwanuka has been compared to the likes of Bill Withers and Al Green. That’s a good start. His smooth and inspiring lyrics will get your weekend off to a great start. There will be special guests as well. Tickets are sold out, but some will be available at the door.

The Moonbeams @ The Troubadour – Saturday, January 11th – Tickets

The Moonbeams have sort of a futuristic rock & roll sound, bringing in driving rhythms, dirty guitars, and sultry female vocals. They have been building a solid following locally in LA and will be making their debut at the Troubadour this Saturday. With support from the similar yet more synth-heavy Them Guns, this will definitely be a wild and dancy night.

Dramarama @ The Whisky A Go Go – Sunday, January 12th – Tickets

The Whisky is celebrating 50 years in business, and to honor the occasion, they are putting on several shows this week. One of the most exciting, though, is late-80s rock band Dramarama. They still tour often thanks to a solid cult following and will put on a great show. I’m sure they’ll give you anything…anything…
