Got some sad news, readers. STS9 just announced that bassist David Murphy and the band are going in different directions. The good news is that the remaining members of STS9 — Hunter Brown, Jeffree Lerner, David Phipps, and Zach Velmer — plan to continue creating music and touring. Unfortunately, they’re postponing their winter dates, including their LA and San Diego shows.

Since their inception in 1998, STS9 (Sound Tribe Sector 9) has been artfully crafting live electronic music. Their sounds have been genre-defying, and while I am saddened to hear the news of Murphy’s departure, I am looking forward to seeing what the group will put out there next.
