LA has never experienced a shortage of women who rock. From Joan Jett to Deap Vally to Dead Sara, our ladies aren’t afraid to get down and dirty with their music, and Los Angeles trio Diamonds Under Fire is another name you can add to that distinguished list of badass women.
Fronted by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Vanessa Silberman, Diamonds Under Fire formed in its current configuration — rounded out by drummer Jessica Goodwin (Big Black Delta) and bassist Melinda Holm — in 2012 before spending much of 2013 on the road and in the studio recording their next full-length record, which is set for a 2014 release. The group blends the raw energy of grunge rock and a melodic pop sensibility with a dash of punk ethos thrown in for good measure.
Earlier this month, Diamonds Under Fire released their new EP, Hearts on Hiatus, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of the music video for the EP track “Everything Fades To Red (Kidforce Edit).” According to Silberman, “A Minor Threat song I heard inspired ‘Everything Fades To Red.’ The song is about passion, honesty, questioning authority, feeling pissed & frustrated but motivated to turn that around into something positive & musically fun!”
Check it out below, and be sure to keep an eye out for the trio’s new full-length effort next year!
