While we are saying our last goodbyes to 2013 and remembering the excellent music this year has given us, we have also had a chance to glimpse into the future and see why 2014 is going to be one hell of a year. Throughout the past few weeks, many talented acts, including The War on Drugs and St. Vincent, have announced their forthcoming releases, and now one more amazing record is adding to our excitement for the new year.
This spring, experimental singer/songwriter Erika M. Anderson (aka EMA) will return with her sophomore effort, The Future’s Void. The release follows her phenomenal solo debut, Past Life Martyred Saints, which was raw, seething, and intense.
EMA also released the first single off the new LP, “Satellites,” which already shows the artist taking a new direction, stepping away from her lo-fi style to something more distorted, intense, and relentlessly powerful.
2014 should be a good year, indeed.
