The Ataris

The Ataris’ seminal pop-punk album So Long, Astoria was the first CD I stole from a boyfriend. I was 16, and as soon as I heard the opening chords of the title track, I fell in love (with the album — Nate and I only lasted a month). For months, I couldn’t get enough of that record and its emotional, upbeat songs such as “So Long, Astoria,” “In This Diary,” and, of course, one of the best pop-punk covers of all time, their version of Don Henley’s “Boys Of Summer.”

With my other favorites Taking Back Sunday and Yellowcard recently having ten-year anniversary rereleases of their history-making albums, The Ataris are following suit and will be performing So Long, Astoria in its entirety next year!

For the first time in a decade, the original lineup of The Ataris will reconvene to perform So Long, Astoria. Kristopher Roe, Mike Davenport, Chris Knapp, and John Collura will put all the bad blood behind them and share the stage for the first time in eight years to celebrate their beloved album and perform all their now-classic pop-punk hits.

The band hopes the profits of this tour will fund the remainder of the recording and release of their upcoming album, Graveyard of The Atlantic, which has been a work in progress since 2008. Authority Zero, Drag The River, Versus The World, and Gasoline Heart will support, and tickets for the upcoming tour go on sale December 20th.

As if this tour announcement wasn’t enough good news for me, The Ataris have also released Part One of a new mini-documentary about their reunion and the making of So Long, Astoria. The original lineup will only be performing this tour, so grab your tickets and get ready to relive the album that redefined pop punk and my emotional teen years!
