For the first time in years, I heard Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy” on the radio. Shortly after that came “You Can Call Me Al” from Paul Simon’s Graceland. This called for a little 1980s music video watching, which reminded my that, besides both being awesome, these videos also both feature amazing cameos from big-name celebrities.

Bringing famous people on board for music videos works out well for both parties. The artist will get more attention for having someone of note in their video, and the celebrity will usually get some credibility for not taking themselves so seriously. That being said, there are actually quite a few outstanding performances in this list of videos (Robert Downey Jr.’s performance in Elton John’s “I Want Love” in particular is quite touching).

Take a little time out of your day and enjoy these fantastic and unexpected celebrity cameos!
