New daddy Michael Fitzpatrick (Mazel Tov!) has a another reason to celebrate. His Silver Lake-based, soul-meets-new-wave sextet has just released the latest single from their sophomore LP, More Than Just A Dream. Earlier this year, Fitz and The Tantrums had their first bonafide mainstream hit from the album with the single “Out of My League,” and now their tune “The Walker,” which has already been featured in various soundtracks and commercials, has been released as an official video.
The breakneck number is an ode to the famous Silver Lake “Walking Man.” To that end, the video hits the streets of LA with a home-spun and kitschy approach at telling the tale of a man that just wants to move. Much like Gloria Estefan predicted, eventually the rhythm is gonna get you. The video is a welcome rekindling of the type of energy that nearly got glossed over on More than Just A Dream, the very energy that made the world sit up and take notice of Fitz and The Tantrums in the first place.
