I’m a Great Lakes gal, and for me, this time of year usually means ruefully lamenting winter’s approach while bitterly regretting every second I didn’t spend outside over the summer. But guess what? This is LA, and we’ve still got plenty of warm weekends to enjoy. Here are a few musical ways to spend this one.
Bon Jovi @ Staples Center – Friday, October 11, 2013 – Tickets
To all the haters who might wonder aloud, “Why is Bon Jovi still touring?” Bon Jovi gives the Because We Can tour. Jon and company take the stage at the Staples Center Friday night, so get your tickets now, and if you’re feeling generous, buy an extra pair for Tommy and Gina. They’re seniors on a budget now, you know.
Thirty Seconds to Mars @ Hollywood Bowl – Saturday, October 12, 2013 – Tickets
Hometown boys Thirty Seconds to Mars play the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, their last US date before kicking off the European leg of their extensive Love, Lust, Faith, and Dreams tour. Did you know that the first copy of the first single of the album of the same title was sent into space aboard the Dragon spacecraft on SpaceX CRS-2? Me neither. The single, “Up in the Air,” debuted on the International Space Station. What’s up, space? How you like that? Head out to the Bowl to see the intergalactic stars under the stars.
Culture Collide Fest 2013 in Echo Park – October 10-12, 2013 – Tickets
Head to Echo Park today through Saturday for Filter’s Culture Collide festival, which features bands from 25 different countries who collectively decided that LA’s a good place to rock. Featured acts include Liars, King Khan & the Shrines, The Raveonettes, Miami Horror, F*ck Buttons, and many, many more.
