Eclectic quintet He’s My Brother She’s My Sister (HSBSMS) is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based, real-life brother and sister Rob and Rachel Kolar. HSBSMS is the raw vibrancy of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes and the performance phenomena of a vaudeville sideshow. After a raucous response to their initial releases last year, the band put out their debut LP, Nobody Dances in This Town, in the last quarter of 2012.
He’s My Brother She’s My Sister just recently released the video for their newest single, “Clackin’ Heels.” It is an ode to the cat-like nature of prowling temptresses. “Most women are crazy as hell,” Rachel Kolar purrs along to the stop-motion video.
Ever since last year’s album release, HMBSMS has been on the road touring in breakneck fashion. Frankly, they’ve been hopping from city to city for so long, I’m impressed they can even remember where home is at this point. Luckily for us, HMBSMS finally lands back in the warm embrace of Los Angeles for a hometown show at El Rey Theater tomorrow, October 26th.
No doubt, after such a noticeable absence from LA these guys will be pulling out all the stops for their hometown fans. If you missed getting an early jump on things, tickets are still available. With their tap-dancing drummer, Lauren Brown, and their signature playful energy, HMBSMS’ live performances are not to be missed. Doors are at 8PM.
