If you missed The Happy Hollows’ appearance on the LA Music Blogcast, you may not know that the members of this LA band are not only very, very talented, they are really awesome, fun people as well, which is why I jumped at the chance to catch another live set by the band, this time at Sonos Studio as part of the Sonos Studio Sessions by Rhapsody series.
After watching the band perform two tracks under the stunning light installation at Sonos, my husband/partner-in-crime Mikiel and I had a chance to chat with the band about how they came to be involved with the Sonos Studio Sessions by Rhapsody.
“Rhapsody recorded a live set we did at Sunset Junction a few years back, and the producer for this live performance, Olivia, used to promote shows in San Francisco, so we had an on-going relationship with her,” explained Charlie Mahoney, The Happy Hollows’ guitarist. “Then she started working for Rhapsody and mentioned to us that she was going to be in LA shooting this series and invited us in.”
We went on to ask The Happy Hollows how they felt an experience like the Sonos Studio Sessions by Rhapsody can help an up-and-coming band, and Charlie told us that “it’s always great to get really high-quality video and live content in a great space like this. It’s something that filters through the web, and that’s great for us. Plus Sarah especially has a lot of energy live, so it’s good for people who haven’t had a chance to see a Happy Hollows’ performance to be able to see that.”
The videos do a great job of capturing the Happy Hollows’ live energy, so check them out, but there’s nothing like the real thing, so if you can make it out to the band’s show opening for The Mission UK at Club Nokia next Tuesday, September 10th, I highly suggest you do!
Be on the lookout for additional Sonos Studio Sessions by Rhapsody videos from more LA bands later this week!
