Labor Day has come and gone, and despite Los Angeles being the city of perpetual summer, the chilly fall winds (i.e., 70 degree weather) are coming through our town. With so many beautiful and acoustically amazing outdoor performance venues, however, a bit of cold shouldn’t slow down music lovers this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Check out some of the great performances this weekend that all take place outdoors. Just grab a sweater first!

Local Natives @ The Greek Theatre – Friday, September 13th – Tickets

We love Local Natives here at the LAmb, whether we’re interviewing their guitarist and singer Taylor Rice, naming them one of our must sees at this year’s Coachella, or reveling in their amazing performances. Every Los Angeles band dreams of playing the revered Greek Theatre, and this Friday night, Local Natives will bring their mesmerizing brand of indie rock to the most beautiful outdoor venue in our city. With support from Wild Nothing, this performance will certainly elevate one of our favorite local bands to a completely new level.

Sheryl Crow and Gary Allen @ The Greek Theatre – Saturday, September 14th Tickets

Stick around The Greek for the next evening’s performance and catch the legendary Sheryl Crow. I’ll always have a soft spot for Sheryl Crow and her career that spans two decades. During the summer, you can’t turn on the radio without hearing one of her sunny easy listening tunes (I’m looking at you, “Soak Up The Sun”). After moving to LA, I blasted “All I Wanna Do” and sang along with, “Until the sun comes over over Santa Monica Boulevard” while driving on, well, Santa Monica Boulevard. Her debut country album, Feels Like Home, was released this week, so expect this summer-loving woman to be crooning country Saturday night.

Earth, Wind & Fire: Fireworks Finale @ Hollywood Bowl – Sunday, September 15th – Tickets

It’s almost impossible to box the legendary Earth, Wind, and Fire into one genre (equal parts disco, pop, funk, and soul), but one thing is for sure: their music makes you want to dance. The soulful group will be playing three energetic shows this weekend at the Hollywood Bowl, but I’d catch the Sunday show because who doesn’t love the excitement and unpredictability of a final performance? Their show will be the last of the Hollywood Bowl’s 2013 summer concert series, so send summer off right by packing some wine and cheese and enjoying this classic group under the stars.
