The time has come. Friday marks the last full weekend of the summer of 2013 (the following Sunday is September 1st.)
So how are you going to be celebrating your (next to) last hurrah?
You are in luck because this weekend is an awesome one for California music lovers. FYF Festival has finally arrived!
But for those of you who can’t make it to the fest, don’t fret. Los Angeles is the perfect place to get your summer sun fix during the day and rock out at night to the myriad of music options that the city has to offer.
Well, of course I have to start with FYF Fest. This year the Los Angeles music mainstay features amazing artists, including My Bloody Valentine, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, MGMT, Beach House, and more. Still deciding on who to see? Here are some of my suggestions on who to check out.
While one-day tickets are sold out, you can still pick up two-day passes (or VIP two-day passes if you are fancy).
Want a taste of something more on the hardcore side? Go and see the wildly popular metal band Deafheaven perform at the Echo this Friday. Seeing that our very own Jay Chirinos deemed their recent album Sunbather a “masterpiece,” I’m pretty sure Deafheaven will put on one hell of a show.
Want to spend your day listening to great indie pop music and frolicking along the beach? Thanks to Urban Outfitters and Converse, you can head to Malibu this Saturday and check out Bleached and Dum Dum Girls. The best part? It’s free!
