Single-day tickets for the Treasure Island music festival will be available tomorrow, August 2nd, for the discerning/fiscally responsible/broke concert goer. They’re going for $85 a head, and considering the depth of talent each day is packing, I’d say that’s a fair price.
Treasure Island walks that sweet middle road where the event is small enough that you won’t have to worry about those tough set-time conflicts and diverse enough to remain interesting. Bigger music festivals like Coachella or Lollapalooza force you to make painful, agonizing decisions on who you’re going to go see. Do you go for the up-and-coming indie trip-hop jazz quartet that’s playing its first show in the States? Or do you miss them for the once-in-a-lifetime reunion of that old rock band that had that one song you heard once that one time? Yes, this is a first-world problem. No, that doesn’t make it any less painful.
All snark aside, this is a great lineup. Phantogram is excellent. Poolside is the perfect addition to your summertime soundtrack. James Blake is swoon worthy. Haim, Major Lazer, Sleigh Bells, Beck, Atoms for Peace… It’s going to be a kick-ass weekend. See if it’s for you with the full lineup below.
