Another excellent lineup of albums hitting the world of music today, including new full-lengths by two of my favorite bands, Fitz & The Tantrums and Noah & The Whale. So while I listen to those on repeat, you should check out the rest of today’s notable releases below and be sure to sound off in the comments on which is your favorite!
Deerhunter – Monomania
Deerhunter’s fifth studio album landed a spot on our Top 5 Most Anticipated Releases of May for good reason: few do experimental psychedelic punk better than Brandon Cox.
Fitz & The Tantrums – More Than Just A Dream
One of LA Music Blog’s favorite local acts, these soul revivalists are releasing their sophomore effort and first album on the Elektra Records label today.
Joshua Radin – Wax Wings
This Cleveland born songwriter/performer is self-releasing his fifth studio album today, and he’ll be playing a sold-out show at Largo here in LA tonight.
Little Boots – Nocturnes
Marni was treated to an advanced listen to Nocturnes when Little Boots hit The Echoplex last week, and according to her review, the album “includes swirling synths and house beats but also generously borrows from disco.”
Noah & the Whale – Heart of Nowhere
Noah & The Whale’s newest album was recorded at West London’s British Grove Studios and marks the band’s fourth record in five years, the last of which, Last Night On Earth, has been one of my favorite albums ever since its 2011 release.
Savages – Silence Yourself
Jay got his hands on an advanced copy of this UK quartet’s highly anticipated debut, which he says in his review is “filled with more conviction than you’ll hear in any other debut this year.”
She And Him – Volume 3
Marni had a chance to give She & Him’s latest a listen, and in her review, she states that “Deschanel is both more worldly and disarming than ever on Volume Three.”
Still Corners – Strange Pleasures
London’s Still Corners is releasing their sophomore album today, and if you like what you hear on it, you can catch them at the Fonda Theater on May 31st or The Troubadour on June 1st with fellow Londoners Chvrches.
Talib Kweli – Prisoner Of Conscious
Two years after the release of his Gutter Rainbows project, hip hop’s Talib Kweli delivers his fifth studio album, Prisoner of Conscious.
The Reflections – Limerence
Los Angeles indie pop duo releases their dreamy debut album via Arc Recordings today.
