For nearly 40 years, Tom Petty has been an active presence in the music scene. Now, at age 62 and with an upcoming album rumored for release in 2014, the artist is as busy as he has ever been, touring regularly, recording, and even headlining major festivals such as this year’s Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee. If you’ve yet to catch a live Petty performance, 2013 might be your year as yesterday Petty announced that he and the Heartbreakers will invade one of LA’s hottest venues, The Fonda, for six nights in June.
Just as No Doubt did when they scheduled six dates at the Gibson Amphitheater back in December, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers can be expected to test out new material as well as play classics spanning a storied career during the run of shows, but Petty will do it at a hipper venue. Take that, Gwen. The Fonda show will be preceded by a string of nights at New York’s Beacon Theatre in May.
Tickets go on sale March 22nd through Ticketmaster and the shows are in June, so you will have plenty time to pop in that greatest hits and practice your loudest “Don’t have to live like a REF-U-GEE!”
