Cue the hysterics!  Elusive French duo Daft Punk has finally broken the silence on their newest release!  Sort of.

Rumors of an upcoming release have been swirling for years but have been largely unsubstantiated until now. Daft Punk’s official website now features a click-through image that takes you straight to a painfully uninformative page for their upcoming release, Random Access Memories. Pre-order information on iTunes lists an “expected” release date of May 21, 2013.

Little has been seen of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo since the release of their last album, 2010’s Tron: Legacy soundtrack. Daft Punk fans who have been yearning for a follow-up to 2006/2007’s legendary Alive tour, myself included, are waiting with bated breath to see if and when the duo will embark on their quest for world domination following this release.

One thing’s for sure: this will almost certainly add fuel to the speculation of a repeat surprise Daft Punk set during Phoenix’s headlining performance at Coachella.
