Great news for fans of neo-soul and shaking their booties: Fitz and The Tantrums have officially announced their sophomore album! More Than Just a Dream, the follow up to 2010’s Pickin’ Up the Pieces, will be released on May 7th via the band’s new home of Elektra Records.

While this album does mark the band’s major label debut, Fitz and Co. will find a familiar face at Elektra, namely the label’s recently-appointed president, Jeff Castelaz. Castelaz is the co-founder of FATT’s previous home, Dangerbird Records, and he chose the LA-based group as his first signing in his new position.

“Fitz and The Tantrums’ individual artistry aligns perfectly with Elektra’s storied legacy and I’m thrilled that they are my first new signing here,” said Castelaz. “This band and their team are family to me, and I look forward to continuing the incredible journey we started together back in 2010.”

I feel like I’ve also had a front-row seat to the success story that is Fitz and The Tantrums, as LA Music Blog first interviewed the group’s frontman back in October of ’09, just two months after they released their debut EP, Songs for a Breakup: Vol. 1. Additional interviews, show reviews, and features followed, and we couldn’t be happier for the band regarding this new chapter with Elektra. We also cannot wait to hear More Than Just a Dream!
