Fall Out Boy

While riding down the I-5 on a particularly beautiful Saturday evening back in August, I tweeted the following via @LAMusicBlog: “Falloutboy’s Take This To Your Grave might be my favorite pop punk album ever. What band do YOU wish would put their hiatus on hiatus?” Seems my wish has been granted as today Fall Out Boy has returned with not only a new single, but also an album and tour announcement.

The electro-pop vibe of “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” is a far cry from the pop punk style of tracks found on 2003’s Take This To Your Grave, but I’m digging it nonetheless. The hook-heavy single is taken from the group’s new album, Save Rock and Roll, which will be released in the US on May 7th via Island Records.

Tickets for the Save Rock and Roll tour go on sale February 8th and 9th, and in addition to the dates listed below, Fall Out Boy will be playing a series of special shows this week, including a sold-out performance at The Roxy on Thursday. All this Fall Out Boy activity now has me questioning the power of Twitter, so don’t be surprised if you start seeing wishes for in-ground swimming pools and calorie-free chocolate on the LAmb feed in the near future. Can’t fault a girl for trying.
